Classes at the Rochester Institute of Technology started Wednesday, and university officials say the school's COVID-19 alert level is still green, meaning that the prevalence of the virus on campus is low.

The university says more than 12,000 students submitted COVID-19 tests, which were required in order to return to campus. Of those, the school says, 60 students or 0.5 percent, tested positive.

School officials say those students won't be allowed to move around on campus until they are cleared by their local health department.

University officials say more than 2,500 negative tests were submitted by employees, with three tests indicating positive cases.

Those employees and underwent contact tracing and are quarantining.
