Our Lady of Mercy School for Young Women is taking a historic step to keep students safe with its now-released reopening plan.

The principal tells Spectrum News the school is in negotiations to lease a space off-campus to allow 6th through 8th graders to attend in-person classes five days a week, while staying distanced.

The school's plan for 9th through 12th graders is a hybrid model, splitting students into two groups.

One group will report to classrooms on Mondays and Tuesdays, another attending Thursdays and Fridays.

When students are home, they will learn online.

The 6th through 12th grade school serves about 800 girls.
