ROCHESTER, N.Y. — In downtown Rochester, an impromptu celebration began after Joe Biden was named the projected winner of the presidential election.
A gathering happened at the corner of Court Street and Chestnut Street near MLK Park.
People came together to dance, sing, and even play makeshift instruments.
One woman said that this is just a first step in a new direction.
"Today we celebrate, tomorrow we fight like hell, because there's more work to be done. America is for everybody, America is for everybody," said Barb Dietz of Rochester.
The crowd then continued to the Liberty Pole to keep the festivities going with Free the People Roc.
