ROCHESTER, N.Y. — New information is coming to light in the case of two Rochester store clerks charged with the rape of a juvenile last month.
The district attorney says four new alleged victims have been identified in the case.
Police say a juvenile girl entered the store at the corner of Central Park and Scio Street on March 19 to make a purchase. That's when investigators say the two clerks locked her in the store and sexually assaulted her.
Following the alleged incident, police say Shadad Alghaithy, 20, and James Hampton, 28, were arrested and charged with first, second and third-degree rape. The two men were also charged with second and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon after a search of the store, police say.
A grand jury indicted Alghaithy and Hampton on the rape and weapon charges, according to court records.
On Wednesday, police revealed Alghaithy is facing more charges in connection with four additional alleged victims. Those charges are first and third-degree rape, two counts of first-degree sexual abuse, first and third-degree criminal sex act and first-degree attempted sexual abuse.
Police have not revealed any further information about the four additional victims or when the other alleged incidents took place.
Rochester city officials closed the corner store last month following the alleged incident and are working with the property owner to set rules for any future business at the location to follow.
Alghaithy and Hampton are both scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
