Authorities say a suspected Rochester car thief and convicted felon is in custody following a chase on Thursday.
Members of law enforcement from multiple local police departments, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office and the United States Border Patrol say they chased Sean Harloff's car from Irondequoit, across the Bay Bridge to Webster, then into Penfield.
Investigators say he ditched the vehicle there and was taken into custody.
People who live on Bay Road witnessed the incident.
"We live so close and not really knowing for sure where the person was," said Dolly Kujawa of Webster. "She wanted to go home and lock her doors. I was too scared and just came back here. I checked every bush on the way."
Harloff was arraigned in Irondequiot Town Court. He is charged with second-degree burglary, third-degree grand larceny and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, according to police. They say he is also charged with reckless driving and driving while impaired by drugs. He is currently being held in the Monroe County Jail.
Authorities say Harloff is a predicate felon, meaning if he's convicted, he is guaranteed to serve prison time.
Irondequoit police believe he may be linked to at least one other incident involving a stolen car.
