ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Gates police say a vehicle believed to be connected to an attempted carjacking that turned deadly, has been recovered in the city of Rochester. They've also released the name of the man who was shot and killed.
Investigators say Richard M. Sciascia, 71, of Irondequoit, died after being shot in the upper body on Buell Road Wednesday morning.
Following the incident, police asked the public to be on the lookout for a black sedan with tinted windows. Rochester police located the vehicle just before 8 p.m. Wednesday on Danforth Street. The vehicle and a juvenile were taken into custody after a brief chase. According to Gates police, the juvenile was released after an investigation.
Currently, officers are still working to track down the suspects in the case and they're asking anyone who has information to call 911 or a special tip line that has been set up at the Gates Police Department: 585-429-8275.
