CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. — Police have released the name of the man who was wounded by a parole officer during an altercation this week in Canandaigua.

The Ontario County Sheriff's Office says Supreme Hines is still hospitalized in stable condition.

According to the sheriff's office, Hines was wanted for burglary and was being taken into custody by Officer Jeffrey Smith on Tuesday at a Lakeshore Drive motel.

That's when Supreme Hines allegedly fled to a car and hit the officer with it.

Officer Smith then shot and wounded the Canandaigua man.

The officer was treated for his injuries and released from the hospital.
