GREECE, N.Y. — Greece police were involved in a lengthy chase Friday morning after being called for a burglary.
The suspect is now in custody.
Greece police say they believe he is connected to a string of burglaries in the area.
According to police, the chase started in Greece in the area of Stone Road and headed towards the city of Rochester. Greece police followed the suspect down North Clinton, Joseph Avenue, East Avenue, University Avenue, Union Street, and Central Park. Eventually, the chase came to an end on Portland Avenue.
The RPD and state troopers helped out by blocking off roads. Police say the driver almost struck several police cars during the chase.
"The van ended up spinning out. Nobody was injured, other than the van having some minor damage during the pursuit, there was no damage to any police vehicles... the van where it came to rest got stuck between a tree and a building but did not hit either," said Sgt. Joseph Robinson of the Greece Police Department.
Police are working to determine the number of burglaries the suspect may be connected to. His name has not yet been released.
