Barnard Fire Department crews made quick work of a fire in Greece that damaged an apartment.

No one was inside the apartment in the Woodhill Complex around 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Tenants in the other apartments made it out OK.

Barnard Fire Department Chief John Nolan says winter weather was an issue.

"It just makes it tough with water supply," Nolan. "Obviously you're putting a lot of water onto the fire. Water creates ice and the safety of the firefighters and we're on the bottom of a hill here. Slip sliding away it just makes it a little more difficult."

The Red Cross is helping the people affected.
