CHILI, N.Y. — Nearly two dozen people are now homeless after an apartment fire overnight in the town of Chili.
The fire happened at the Parklands of Chili luxury apartments on Hill Park Court. Fire crews responded to the 2-alarm blaze around 3 a.m. when flames could be seen shooting from the roof of the building that suffered extensive damage.
No one was injured, but It's unclear at this time what caused the fire. The owner of the complex says the apartments will need to be rebuilt.
The Red Cross is providing shelter to more than a dozen people from eight apartments.
Just hours before, fire reduced parts of a home to rubble a few miles down Chili Avenue.
At least four fire agencies, including the Chili Fire Department, which is across the street, were at the scene near Chestnut Drive around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
At one point all the crews were ordered out of the home for safety reasons.
The home was a total loss and is expected to be demolished sometime Wednesday.
No word yet on what sparked the flames. The sheriff's department is investigating.
