ROCHESTER, N.Y. — As schools work to make sure kids are COVID-free, medical offices are getting overwhelmed with the number of children requesting COVID-10 tests.

Rochester Regional Health is rolling out a new program to help. The program offers COVID-19 tests to kids under 18.

Results come in 24 hours, or a maximum of 48.

"We know that some of the urgent cares are doing testing that takes a few days to turn around, and it's not just not appropriate for a kid who has the sniffles,” said RRH Pediatrics Medical Director Dr. Steven Schulz. “That can cause similar symptoms to COVID to have to stay home with those symptoms. When we can get a quick turnaround test that's accurate and get that kid back into school, if it's appropriate."

The pediatric swabbing sites will be at two locations, Wilson Pediatrics Center on Carter Street and North Greece Family Medicine and Pediatrics on Long Pond Roads.

These are not walk-in clinics, so your health care provider will have to order the COVID test ahead of time.
