ROCHESTER, N.Y. — More local first responders are receiving COVID-19 vaccines.
Interim Rochester Police Chief Cynthia Herriott-Sullivan and Executive Deputy Chief Andre Anderson were vaccinated at Rochester General Hospital Tuesday.
Herriott-Sullivan says she wanted to help the local community become more comfortable with getting the vaccine.
"I want people to feel more confident or comfortable about at least being open to considering the shot. For those who [are] either really concerned, or made a decision, maybe that they weren't going to. I want to encourage folks out there to do their homework and find somebody they trust. If it's a doctor they've known for years, they should take advantage of that, talk to them about it."
Herriott-Sullivan also tells Spectrum News that she's encouraged by the number of people within the police department that have gotten vaccinated so far.
An estimated 150 to 200 Rochester police officers have received COVID-19 vaccinations.
