ROCHESTER, N.Y. — UR Medicine reports it vaccinated 10 people against the coronavirus on Monday.

The group was the first in Rochester to receive the Pfizer vaccine.

URMC says ten workers were vaccinated on Tuesday, the first being Carlos Rosa, a patient transporter at Strong working on a unit that treats COVID-19 patients.

URMC says another small group will be vaccinated Tuesday and Wednesday.

On Wednesday, it will open a clinic that is expected to vaccinate around 200 staffers every four hours.

"I'm taking the right steps and the right movement, so I can [get] back closer to them, because before COVID-19 I really enjoyed the interaction that I was having with my family. I'm so happy they came out with a vaccine. That's going to help me get back to them," said Rosa.

There's no timetable for when the public will receive the vaccine. Doctors are hoping the public will get access to the vaccine by the summer.

Rochester Regional Health announced that three of its hospitals would receive the vaccine on Tuesday.
