The city of Rochester and parts of Brighton, Irondequoit, Greece and Gates/North Gates have been designated as orange zones. The rest of Monroe County is now designated as yellow.

Victor is on track to become a yellow zone. That's the latest from the state and its coronavirus response.

In an orange zone:

  • Houses of worship are reduced to 25 people maximum or 33% capacity
  • There is a 10 person limit to gatherings
  • High-risk non-essential businesses, such as gyms, are closing
  • Only outdoor dining allowed, with a limit of four people to a table
  • Schools will go remote with the ability to test out to reopen

Gov. Andrew Cuomo said state hospitalizations have risen 122% in three weeks. New York's COVID-19 positive rate is at 2.9%, but at current rates, and with the holidays and their high social settings arriving, the state could see 6,000 hospitalizations before Christmas.

"You put that rate of increase together with the high rate of increase from social activity. That is a dangerous situation," said Gov. Cuomo.

The state reported 33 new deaths. It's also reporting a wide range of infection rate.

Lancaster has the highest rate at 9.6%. Cooperstown is the lowest.
