ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Monroe County officials announced the very first Veterans Day parade will be held in Rochester next month the day after Veterans Day, Saturday, Nov. 12.

The parade will kick off at the corner of South Goodman and Highland Avenue and continue east on Highland to the Greater Rochester Vietnam Veterans Memorial on South Avenue in Gary Beikirch Memorial Park.

Longtime radio host Alan "Brother Wease" Levin, who served three tours with the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War, will serve as grand marshal.

The parade will feature musical marching units, veteran’s service organizations, along with military-style vehicles and law enforcement agencies.

An honor ceremony will follow with music and food from local vendors.

The town of Penfield is also looking to honor veterans in a new way.

Officials are creating a Penfield heroes wall in the town community center's main corridor.

The wall will feature a photo and short bio of military members from Penfield who are actively serving.

To submit someone for recognition, you can email a picture and bio to supervisor@penfield.org.

You can also drop off hard copy applications at the Penfield Town Hall at 3100 Atlantic Ave.

Submissions are encouraged by Nov. 1.
