ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The city of Rochester has announced public information sessions are coming to discuss regulations for licensed marijuana businesses.

Now it’s on the city to decide when, where and how those businesses can operate, and what to do with the revenue generated.

The city has concerns over black market sales of marijuana, including a gray area in which businesses have been giving marijuana away for free with an overpriced product.

Mayor Malik Evans says both of these issues need to be addressed.

He hopes once the infrastructure is in place, neighbors will respect one another and the rules put in place.

"Long-term, it's the revenue derived that I think will be a benefit for all of us," Evans said. "The opportunity to bring people into this legally is really the upside and [it is] why Rochester decided to be part of it. I think that's the key."

The first public information session is set for April 14.
