ROCHESTER, N.Y. — After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the Rochester Pride parade and festival are both returning this summer.

ROC Pride Collective is organizing the celebration, which was formerly put on by the Out Alliance.

Pride Month is usually recognized in June, but Rochester has a history of celebrating it in July.

ROC Pride Collective is planning a number of events in addition to the parade and festival on July 16.

"Pride is very important to our community,” ROC Pride Collective co-chair Susanna Speed. “We have such a rich history here in Rochester. It's really great that we can come together as a community and do that."

This year marks 50 years since the first organized LGBTQ+ Pride events were held in the city.

The Pride parade will take place on Park Avenue in Rochester followed by a festival at Cobbs Hill Park.
