ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester Herb Society celebrated its 50th anniversary by helping freshen up a community garden Tuesday afternoon.

Formerly known as the Flower City Herb Society, it was formed to study and teach the uses and history of herbs.

Now, the society wants to continue serving the community.

It's partnering with the Rochester Museum and Science Center and Boy Scout Troop 167 to improve the Garden of Fragrance at the RMSC.

The project replaced herbs, and added new engraved bricks with founding member’s names.

"It was a tremendous group effort,” said Jean Bolster of the 50th anniversary celebration committee. “We would not have been able to do this without the help of all of the people at the museum who participated, gave us their blessing [and] helped with signage."

The Garden of Fragrance is located behind the museum on East Avenue. It is open and free for everyone to visit.
