ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The United Christian Leadership Ministry provided a preview of its upcoming Community-Police Summit later this week.
The goal is improving relations between the community and local police agencies.
Panel discussions, seminars and forums will be held during the summit.
Former Rochester Police Chief Dr. Cedric Alexander will be a keynote speaker.
Much of the summit will focus on recent recommendations required by the governor to reform police departments.
The ministry has its own recommendations as well.
"We do not want another blue-ribbon commission," said UCLM president Rev. Lewis Stewart. "We are pushing for implementation of the recommendations that we created and that we developed. We will not take 'no' for an answer. We will not be disappointed."
Several police agencies are taking part, including the Rochester Police Department.
This will be the fifth time the ministry has held this summit.
It is scheduled for Thursday and Friday.
