IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. — A new affordable housing complex in Irondequoit is expected to be completed in spring 2022.

Construction has begun on the $20.6 million senior housing project on Culver Road.

It will add 80 apartments for seniors to live independently.

Rochester Regional Health will be providing residents with onsite evaluations.

Rent will range between $676 and $891 a month.

Rochester Regional will have support staff on site as well.

"So this offers people in Irondequoit the ability to stay right here," said Peggy Hill of Rochester Management. "We feel it's really important to offer supportive services as during the pandemic, we've seen a great need. We see how important it is to keep seniors connected and supported and having that close connection with their medical provider is just really critical."

Each apartment comes with a balcony or patio and can be adapted as needs change for the residents.

Some other amenities include a fitness room, computer lab and outdoor seating.
