The Black Lives Matter movement is continuing in Rochester. The rally held Sunday at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park was held as a way to highlight the struggles of Black women.

The sounds of drums are what kick-started another Black Lives Matter rally in Rochester on Sunday. While there was music, highlights of the afternoon were the speakers.

"We're highlighting people's experiences, Black women experiences because they are often the ones who are silenced, especially within these organizations," said Kevonna Buchanan, one of the organizers.

The speakers had a diverse background and wanted to share their perspectives with the crowd. All of them talked about the importance of having allies to stand beside Black people when there's injustice.

"To be an ally, I want to not just go to these protests and have my voice heard, but actually do some actual work to educate others who may not know what being an ally is," said Molly Mcintosh, a Rochester woman who attended the rally.

"We have a lot of people who really care about this movement who are non-Black, you know, so we're trying to just get them involved as much as we can, whether it's coming out to listen to them speak or it's further involvement," said Buchanan.

While the Black Lives Matter movement has gone on for weeks, the speakers say they want to keep the movement going.

"This is someone's life at stake. This is just not a walk in the park or some tangible item that can be replaced. These are Black lives that have been denigrated for years," said Andy Sarro, a speaker from Black Education United.
