A not so typical reality show has landed on Netflix and one of the participants grew up in Rochester.
It's called "The Circle" and it's a social media elimination game where the winner takes home $100,000.
The goal is to gain influence and avoid getting voted out, but the contestants will never meet face to face and will instead communicate through social media so they won't know who’s real and who's not.
Joey Sasso is an actor living in Los Angeles right now, but he grew up in Rochester and was one of the first 8 contestants announced for the show.
He says one of the coolest parts about being selected for the show is that he gets to represent his hometown.
"For me, the coolest thing is to always represent my home town and put it on the map when I'm in LA or when I was doing the show I love telling people at the end of the day I'm a kid from Rochester New York. It's something for my family and myself to celebrate. This is a huge accomplishment and I think this new year is going to be exciting," said Sasso.
The first four episodes of the show were released on New Year's Day and new episodes will follow on January 8 and 15.
