History was made at the Livingston County Courthouse heading into the new year. The youngest and first female county judge is now sworn in.

"Being able to use my skills and experience to serve and better the community here…I really am proud and pleased for that,” said Republican Judge Jennifer Noto.

Noto was born and raised in Livingston County and as a child she aspired to one day become a judge.

"Never give up on your dreams,” she said. “Anything is possible if you have hard work and faith. And that was instilled in me at a young age."

It was installed in her in part by her father, John Hall.

"She has wanted be a judge since she was in grade school and we certainly encouraged that,” said Hall. “We had no idea how things would eventually work out for her."

Hall is a woodworker who handmade a gavel for the historic moment.

"Always encourage your kids,” he said. “They can be anything they want."

That’s something Judge Noto and her husband are passing down to their 13-year-old son, Jack.

"Anything can happen if you put in the hard work,” said Jack.

"Stay true to yourself and believe in your work," said husband Cory Noto.

These ideals are something she wants the entire county to hold dear as she prepares to take the bench in the new year.

“I'm so proud now to be here for little girls who are going to school in Livingston County,” said Judge Noto. “They can have a role model they can look up to and say 'I could do that one day.’”
