They were in the right place at the right time and did the right thing.

Three local men were recognized on Tuesday by Rochester Police Chief La'Ron Singletary and Mayor Lovely Warren for stepping in to help save a Rochester police officer.

Officer Denny Wright was attacked with a knife in October.

"Let's just say if I had to do it all over again I absolutely would. I'd do the exact same thing all over again, said Lydell Weatherspoon, one of the good Samaritans. "As long as I'm able to help someone and save a life, that's what I'm for all day."

Weatherspoon, Matt Ochs and Ramique Hill were recognized at Tuesday night's Rochester City Council meeting.

Chief Singletary says the three put aside their own safety to help Officer Wright who was attacked by a suspect on Peck Street on October 4.

Officer Wright lost his vision in the attack and continues to recover at home.
