The pandemic could not put out the wood-stove fire of a Rochester Pizzera. 

It's why Veneto opened a second shop in Gates on Thursday. 

Veneto's new Buffalo Road Wood Fired Pizza & Pasta is run by the head chef from its original East Avenue restaurant. The menu and feel is the same, too.

You can get take out, for now, but Veneto hopes to open its dining rooms before long.

"Like everybody, we're sitting here waiting to be instructed on what's the safe way to get the customers back in the restaurant," said Owner Donald Swarz.

The outbreak delayed Veneto's Westside debut.
