ROCHESTER, N.Y. — After fifteen years in business, the original Sticky Lips BBQ restaurant in Rochester is closing.

The owner says despite adding a music stage and a full bar, sales just weren't enough — it cost too much to run two restaurants.

The second Sticky Lips is in Henrietta and that will remain open.

Employees say the Rochester closing will be a big loss to the neighborhood.

“It’s sad, because not only do we care about our customers, we care about our neighbors," said June Thousand, assistant catering manager. "We always try to take care of our neighbors and look out for each other, because that’s what family does. And this restaurant has been like family to me and my children.”

Sticky Lip's catering operation will be moved to the Henrietta location too, along with most of their employees.
