PITTSFORD, N.Y. — It has been a week and a half since Oak Hill Country Club played host to one of the world's biggest golf tournaments, the PGA Championship. As the cheers of hundreds of thousands of spectators fade away, crews are now hard at work, dismantling the grandstands, removing signage and restoring the landscape to its pre-tournament state.

Preparing the country club for the PGA Championship was no small task. It took more than a year of meticulous planning and months of careful construction to transform Oak Hill into a world-class venue. The process began in the fall, with the building of essential infrastructure, followed by a brief pause before construction resumed in late February, leading up to the championship week.

Hundreds of dedicated crews and countless hours of labor were required to bring the venue to life, ensuring every detail, from the PGA Gear Shop to the towering grandstands, was in place. 

Eric Nuxol, operations manager for PGA America, acknowledged the demanding task.

"It's not as fun tearing it down as it is going up, but it takes roughly six weeks and change when all is said and done for all the crews to get all the structures down," said Nuxol. "It's important for us, though, to take care of the golf course as we go. Safety is still a huge priority for us, obviously, now with workers in play and golfers around them. It's critical to take note of that. We just conducted a spectacular championship, but ultimately, they want to get their course back to how it was. And that's what our job is to do."

The intense competition during the PGA Championship left a minor toll on the pristine course. Unfavorable weather conditions, including rain, resulted in foot traffic tracking mud throughout the grounds. However, dedicated groundskeepers and maintenance crews are diligently working to repair and restore the course to its former glory, ensuring it remains a testament to Oak Hill's golfing legacy.

This past weekend, Oak Hill Country Club reopened its doors to its members, who can once again enjoy the serenity and beauty of the course.
