David Irwin of the Pittsford Rotary Club said this Election Day supper is usually held at Pittsford Mendon High, but it was changed because of the pandemic.

The Rotary Club didn't want to skip a tradition that's been in town for more than 50 years, because Tuesday, November 3 was a reason to celebrate.

“One of our obligations as citizens is to participate in the democratic process, and we like to encourage that. We’re celebrating that obligation by having this dinner every year,” said Irwin.

It's not just about celebrating the right to vote, it's also a fundraiser.

The club is raising money for the Pittsford Food Cupboard, the Boys and Girl Scouts, Pittsford Youth, and Rochester RR Bikes.

“It’s important because they need our support. It’s part of our civic obligation to make sure we support those organizations that make our community better. We’re here to make our community better, all the time, but especially during this difficult pandemic time that we are all in," said Irwin.

At the end of the day, the Pittsford Rotary Club sold around 750 plates to support its causes.

“It’s something that we do to say ‘congratulations’ and 'keep it up,'" said Irwin.
