Officials in Erie County are letting residents know what they should do if someone files an unemployment insurance claim in your name.
Officials say the first thing you should do is report the fraudulent claim to the New York State Department of Labor.
You can also file a formal complaint with the Buffalo Attorney General’s Office.
Next you should check your credit report by contacting Experian, Transunion or Equifax.
If you find any wrong information or information you don't recognize, you will need to file a dispute for each item.
