Buffalo Public Schools have canceled all outdoor activities on Monday due to an air quality alert issued for all Western New York, the district announced.
School officials will continue to monitor all information and recommendations and adjust if appropriate.
The district also recommends that people who are vulnerable avoid strenuous outdoor activities, keep outdoor activities short, and consider moving physical activities indoors or rescheduling them.
Everyone in Western New York is suggested to limit outdoor activity with the Air Quality Index at more than 150. If the AQI reaches more than 200, which would be considered very unhealthy, the state will send you an automatic cell phone alert.
Residents can sign up to receive Air Quality Alerts through DEC Delivers.
