ANGOLA, N.Y. — A Brant man is accused of shooting and killing a woman from Angola, the Erie County District Attorney's Office announced Thursday.

District Attorney John Flynn says Keith Renaldo Jr., 38, is charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of Gina Baca, 45, whose body was found in a wooded area near Route 438 in the Town of Brant on July 1.

Flynn says Baca’s mother reported her missing, and investigators believe she was shot around June 26. Officials said Baca was shot in the head and torso.

The DA says Renaldo and the victim had an on-again, off-again relationship.

"No one could have survived that gunshot wound to the head,” Flynn said at a news conference. “No one. We believe a shotgun was used. No gun has been recovered at this time. But the arrest happened, but with all arrests, the investigation continues."

The DA says his office has seen six domestic violence-related homicides this year.

Renaldo is due back in court next week.
