NEW YORK - Batman, Superman, and Hello Kitty all need to pay attention to the strict perimeters in which they are allowed to venture in Times Square.

A study by the Times Square alliance say costumed characters often venture outside the area's Designated Activity Zones.

The characters make their living off tips.

The group says it found 26 percent of interactions between the characters and the public ended with a tip given outside the approved zones, and 67 percent of interactions began outside of them.

The alliance also charges 88 percent of interactions involved a costumed character touching someone without consent.

The Designated Activity Zones were established last year to make visiting Times Square a more pleasant experience.
