TWC NEWS VIDEO: JAMESTOWN, NY -- The United Christian Advocacy Network is on a mission to reopen a men's homeless shelter in Jamestown.
The group acquired the former Union Gospel Mission building on West First Street. Volunteers have begun a large clean-up effort. The previous shelter closed in the fall of 2015 when the director retired. Organizers hope to have it up and running next month. They say it will be the only residential homeless shelter for men in the county.
"We intend on opening it as a homeless emergency shelter as well as a place for transitional living for those who are getting out of jail or prison or rehab or in different stages of recovery," said James Quattrone, United Christian Advocacy Network Board Member.
