Nearly two dozen alleged gang members in the Bronx were indicted this week on attempted murder and several other charges.

Prosecutors say the 23 defendants operated out of the Castle Hill and Co-op City sections of the borough.

The gang members are affiliated with the Bloods, and range in age from 18 to 39 years old.

Investigators say they used wiretaps on the men to gather evidence of them selling illegal guns and drugs.

Bronx District Attorney Robert Johnson released a statement saying, "With these arrests and indictments, we have been able to prevent further violence from occurring. This is part of our ongoing drive to combat gun violence and drugs, to make the streets of the Bronx even safer for our deserving, hard-working citizens."
