BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Local Restaurant Week officially kicks off in Western New York on Monday. More than 200 local eateries are offering meal deals.

The meal deals at all participating eateries cost a minimum of $20.15, which usually include an appetizer, the main course, a drink and sometimes dessert. Some restaurants also offer a special for $30.15 cents and/or $40.15 for multiple guests.

Organizers said Local Restaurant Week is a great way for people open themselves up to something new. The owner of The Archer, who participated in the last two years, said the special week has always spiced up her business.

"Fabulous. We wish it was Local Restaurant Week every week. It’s just something where everyone is on board. Buffalo has so many amazing local restaurants, and everyone just gets together and celebrates, and wants to try something new and different or maybe visit their old favorite spots,” said Gladys Archer, The Archer's owner.

This mouth-watering extravaganza also boosts local businesses during what’s usually a tough time in the year.

"This year in particular, with the winter being as bad as it is and people kind of coming home from work and then hibernating for the evening, the restaurants have really been kind of hit hard with the weather. So I'm hoping this spring, people just get out and enjoy Local Restaurant Week,” said Christa Hobart, ‘the event coordinator.

The event started with 60 restaurants in 2009. Local Restaurant Week runs through March 15.
