As city school students begin to hit the hallways, hockey players are getting ready to hit the ice at Buffalo's three indoor rinks.
Monday, Riverside Park, Tacoma Avenue, and Cazenovia Park all reopen to the public.
Teams and leagues are now able host high-risk sports competitions as permitted by local health departments.
While the Erie County Health Department is allowing sports like hockey, basketball, wrestling, and volleyball to begin again, it is still strongly discouraging teams from traveling outside the region.
Erie and several other surrounding counties are asking wrestling leagues to postpone the season, citing their belief the sport poses too many health risks to safely resume.
