Many parts of the Hudson Valley are dealing with the aftermath of storms that caused flooding overnight.

In East Fishkill, some waterways had overflowed from the storms that came from what was left of Hurricane Ida. Police say five cars had to be towed from flooded areas.

Metro-North service on the East of Hudson lines will not be restored by the end of the day Thursday, the MTA said, citing track washouts, fallen trees, mudslides, damaged power and signal equipment, and collapsed walls.

Gov. Kathy Hochul requested a federal emergency declaration for 14 counties in New York, including Dutchess, Ulster, Orange and Sullivan counties.

"I am formally requesting an emergency declaration from the federal government to ensure that we get the financial assistance and any other help we may need for our citizens and businesses who were affected by this storm," she said.
