The Albany Common Council voted to amend city code to allow for the SeeClickFix program to be reinstated.

The council passed the measure 11-1 in a special meeting Monday night.

Council and city leaders called for the vote after the state Court of Appeals ruled last week that reports submitted via the service are considered "written notice" of a road problem.

That increases the city's liability for road defects that aren't repaired.

This amendment clarifies that any such reports must be delivered by hand or by mail to the corporation counsel to be considered "written notice."
