More than 25,000 Hudson Valley residents were without power early Thursday morning after strong storms hit the region overnight. Power is slowly being restored across the Hudson Valley.
Central Hudson said Thursday morning that approximately 36,000 customers lost power due to Wednesday night's storms, with Dutchess, Orange and Ulster counties the most affected.
As of 12:45 p.m., CenHud reported that 17,534 customers were still affected by outages.
Meanwhile in LaGrange, Dutchess County, residents on Feller Court said the strong winds were like nothing they had ever felt.
“It tore up this whole neighborhood, but the wind was incredible to hear. I couldn’t believe it. And you know, those are trailers. They’re not like homes,” LaGrange resident Patrick Ferris said.
The storm had major effects on Dutchess County, with multiple reports of downed trees in Poughkeepsie, Arlington and Hopewell Junction.
The Dutchess County government's Facebook page posted Thursday morning that "[h]ighway and utility crews have [been] out through the night and will continue to be out throughout the day."
Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino said crews worked hard to get roads back open.
“All of our county roads are open with the exception of county Route 6 in Dover. The crews are coordinating with NYSEG right now for assistance with the wires that are down. And I know that Central Hudson has more than 550 line-clearance personnel working.”
More than 5,000 people in Orange and Rockland counties were without power earlier Thursday morning.
Orange and Rockland Utilities reported on social media that, as of 6 a.m., 4,231 Orange County residents were without power, and 1,049 Rockland County residents were without power.

"Our crews worked through the night last night to restore electric service to approximately 32,201 customers whose power was knocked out by the powerful storm," the utility wrote in the post.
NYSEG outage maps indicated as of 8:45 a.m. that close to 300 Putnam County residents were still without power.
