The Ithaca City School District and the union that represents its teachers failed to reach an agreement at a bargaining session last week.

The meeting was the last scheduled opportunity for the Ithaca Teachers Association and the district to settle on a tentative agreement before the current contract expires at the end of the month.

The district and the union said they will come back to the bargaining table in September.

Teachers in Ithaca recently held a rally, march and sit-in. One of their demands involved having AI protections written into their contracts — they do not want humans being replaced by artificial intelligence.
