DAYTON, Ohio — The Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission recently approved $28.2 million in federal transportation funds to go toward 21 projects throughout the region.

The projects include bikeways, pedestrian pathways, roadways, transit and more.

The MVRPC also noted in a press release that the regionally controlled Surface Transportation Program, Transportation Alternatives, and Carbon Reduction funds and the statewide Congestion Mitigation/Air Quality funds will finance over $48 million in transportation projects when matched with local dollars.

A large chunk of funds will be spent in the Surface Transportation Program, which is recommended to receive $10,789,221. Among the projects are the resurfacing of Dayton-Xenia Road in Beavercreek, I-675 Wilmington Pike in Centerville, South Dixie Highway in Kettering and South County Road 25A in Tipp City.

Another recommended $14,745,436 is suggested to go toward Congestion Mitigation/Air Quality Projects, which include signal reconstruction for Dayton-Xenia Road at N. Fairfield Road in Beavercreek, Kemp Road widening also in Beavercreek and intersection improvements for Franklin 6th and Riley in the City of Franklin.

There were also a variety of projects that weren't selected to receive funds, which can be viewed here.

All of the projects that were suggested to receive funding can be viewed here.

Project proposals will be submitted to the Statewide CMAQ Committee for final consideration, MVRPC said in a release.
