CINCINNATI — Kings Island said the world's longest wooden roller coaster is getting an upgrade just before the season begins this summer.
"The Beast" has a 7,361-foot-long track and a ride time of over four minutes for coaster lovers. The 1.4-mile ride was built in Kings Island's Rivertown since 1979, but this past offseason crews replaced more than 1,600 feet of track.
Through the project, more than 20% of the track will be replaced. The sections being replaced stretch from just before the second hill, through the brake shed and the mid-course tunnel, including the track immediately before and after it.
Kings Island will open for the season on April 19.
