The reconstruction of existing railroad crossings and lighting improvements along Fort Barrette Road between Kapolei Parkway and Franklin D. Roosevelt Avenue will close the road during weekdays starting Monday.
The Hawaii Department of Transportation says work will take place over eight days. Fort Barrette Road will close from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 17 through 21. Over the weekend, the road will close from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. March 22 to 23. The 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. closure will resume the following Monday, March 24.
The project includes upgrading the existing railroad crossing, installing highway and shared-use path lighting on Fort Barrette Road, and installing new concrete crossing panels, pavement markings, striping and signs, etc.
During the closure, traffic will be detoured in both directions via Kapolei Parkway to Kamokila Boulevard to Franklin D. Roosevelt Avenue.
Special duty police officers will be on-site to assist traffic.
