WORCESTER, Mass. - It's going to be a loud weekend at the DCU Center. Monster Jam is back and the 12,000-pound machines are ready to go. Their drivers said they are excited for another Worcester visit, including a female Monster Jam athlete and 2024 Rising Star Jamie Sullivan.

"So, I came here actually, last year in Monster Dalmatian, which is the truck I've been driving the last couple of years," Sullivan said. "But this time it's my first time here with Sparkle Smash.”

Sullivan said her truck is modeled after a toy monster truck which has been brought to life for the fans. About 100 truckloads of dirt have been hauled into the DCU and the wet conditions outside are making things interesting in the arena.

“I'm super pumped for it. You know, this dirt is super interesting to us, and it really makes it for a challenge," Sullivan said. "When we come out here, the dirt is constantly changing and it's tacky, but it's also slick. So, I'm super pumped for it because it challenges us as a driver, especially in these small buildings.”

There are 8 Monster Jam drivers stopping in Worcester for Valentine’s Day weekend and Sullivan is one of 2 women on this tour. While Monster Jam drivers are mostly men with about a dozen women in their whole roster… she says it’s all about winning.

“It's really tough sometimes," Sullivan said. "You know, you got to come out here, you got to show those boys up.”

Sullivan’s been racing since she was nine which grew into going to the University of Northwestern Ohio to pursue a career.

“It's actually in Lima, OH, and it's an automotive and High-Performance school," Sullivan said. "So, I got to learn how to work on monster trucks and race cars. And it just really taught me all the odds and ends. So, the technical factors.”

After working on monster trucks for a couple of years, she got a driver seat and made her way into Monster Jam. Now Sullivan said she’s living out a dream and hoping to inspire more women drivers.

“We try to come out here and really get more women involved in the sport and get them involved and just driving monster trucks," Sullivan said. "And you know, that's our goal with Sparkle Smash. I think it's the perfect set to get those women involved and really just get them pumped up to hopefully be able to drive my truck one day or another truck, or maybe even create their own.

The Monster Jam Valentine’s Day weekend opens with a Friday night show, two performances on Saturday and a final show on Sunday afternoon here at the DCU Center.
