It was a day of unity in the Hudson Valley on Saturday, where a free fair organized by the YMCA helped bring families from all over the area together to learn more about one another.
Enjoying the best of what their community offers is what got Monica and her son, AJ, out of the house for the Middletown Unity Fair.
“I thought it would be a great way to support our friends and spend a Saturday afternoon together,” Monica said.
Hosted by the YMCA, the Unity Fair was a celebration of the cultures that make up the community, featuring a variety of food, music and games for the entire family.
State Sen. James Skoufis said he is proud to be a part of it.
“It brings everybody together, Skoufis said. “And so you’ve got, you know, people of all backgrounds [and] walks of life. I’m sure you have Y members and non-Y members here at the Unity event.”
There’s also something for the YMCA — $2,500 grant from the Spectrum Employee Community Grant.
Skoufis says funding like this is critical for the organization.
“You know, making sure that our local organizations are supported, our first responders are supported certainly today, [I am] very grateful for Charter and for Spectrum,” Skoufis said.
“The music is great and the little shops here are great,” Monica said. “It’s just great. We love Middletown.”
Charter Communications, the parent company of Spectrum News funded the Spectrum Employee Community grant.
