MILWAUKEE — Gov. Tony Evers declared a state of emergency in Milwaukee and its surrounding areas.

The state of emergency is related to the Republican National Convention (RNC). By enacting the executive order, law enforcement and public officials can better prepare for the RNC and will have access to additional resources should they be needed.

The RNC is set to run from July 15 to 18 in Milwaukee.

As part of the declaration, all law enforcement officers present in the state from July 13 to 19 have been granted the power of arrest so long as they have arrest powers and use of force training from their home jurisdiction.
