Members of the Sullivan County Drug Task Force are trying to ensure all public locations – from laundromats to restaurants to gas stations – have access to a NaloxBox.

The boxes contain naloxone kits, which can be used to reverse an overdose. The kits are free of charge and come with the lifesaving drug, along with information on how to use it and get addiction help.

County officials say they have 20 boxes set up throughout the county, and are working to soon secure and set up 150 more.

“We’re trying to get them out to as many people as possible because with the overdose rates the way they are, we just want to save a life," said Sullivan's HEALing Communities Program Manager Camille O’Brien. "Sometimes, it’ll take a little while for someone to get into recovery and to find their way, but this gives them another chance.”

The simple installation process and resupplying of naloxone is completed by county officials.

O’Brien said business owners really just have to say "yes" to help.
