Spectrum's parent company, Charter Communications, has donated $10,000 to Park Playhouse.

In partnership with Ovation TV, Charter provided the funding as part of the Stand for the Arts Awards Initiative, which aims to recognize local arts, cultural and educational organizations.

The money will be used to help the Park Playhouse with its mission to keep the performing arts accessible to all through its free summer shows in Washington Park in Albany.

"This was an incredible thing to have in any city," Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan said. "It's one of the reasons I fell in love with the city of Albany, because of this high-quality, free theater in the park every summer. It's just a treasure."

Since the initiative started in 2017, Ovation TV and Spectrum have awarded a total of $600,000 as part of 60 awards, providing support to arts education.
