A Massena man has pleaded guilty to killing a music education student near the State University of New York Potsdam campus in 2022, St. Lawrence County District Attorney Gary Pasqua said Thursday.

Michael J. Snow, 32, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the shooting death of 21-year-old Elizabeth Howell of Patterson, Putnam County, who was found during the early evening of Feb. 18, 2022, with gunshot wounds on College Park Road in the village of Potsdam.

Howell, a student in the university's Crane School of Music who performed as a cellist with the Crane Symphony Orchestra, was pronounced dead in Canton Potsdam Hospital.

Snow faces 22 years to life in prison pending sentencing, which is scheduled for July 28.
