The new HealthAlliance hospital opened Wednesday in Kingston, and nearly 100 patients were moved there from the Broadway campus.

Health officials said months of preparation went into the day.

“We've coordinated very closely with the city. We have our routes planned or taken into account. The high school is right between our campuses and the traffic patterns around that. We've gotten pretty variable messaging signs out there on the main roads, alerting folks to this,” said Michael Doyle, executive director and chief medical officer at HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley.

Health officials said the planning team had a system in place.

“So we’ve done a lot of prep work in advance, making sure that the nurses that care for the patients stay with the patients their caring for from one campus to the other, and every patient placement in a bed was done in advance,” said Fran Davis, regional vice president and nurse executive for HealthAlliance Hospital.

Health officials said that within the past few days, two babies were born and transferred to the new facility, and a mother has given birth to a baby girl.
